When is the Right Time to have "The Talk"
What's the right age to tell my kid what s-e-x is?
“Kathleen, my kid is 6 years-old and I want to make sure he learns what IT is from me and not from his friends or the internet. So, when should I have ‘THE Talk’ with him?”
If only I was given a dollar every time I was asked this question! It totally is the million dollar question that every parent wants to know! So let me answer it.
Most parents want to tell their kid what sex is BEFORE their kid hears it from a friend.
BUT many parents don’t want to tell their kid about sex too early because they’re worried it may be too much information for their kid to take in.
So, they’re looking for that sweet spot. The moment where they tell their kid what sex is JUST hours before their kid was to learn about it from some other kid on the playground. That’s their goal! Can you relate?
These parents spend their time trying to figure out if their kid is about to hear what sex is from someone else instead of building a foundation to deliver the sex talk age-appropriately. Here’s what I mean.
