Build upon this knowledge by utilizing the proven parent-child communication technique taught inside a 10 minute Top Talk lesson. It’s an easy way to more effectively talk to your kid that has been proven to build their critical thinking skills and self-confidence.
🫙 Next, Puberty Topics in Jar can be used starting as early as 8 years-old. It’s focused on physical, emotional, and social puberty changes while also introducing two important topics which are sex and masturbation in an age-appropriate way.
🗣️ Finally, Teen Topics in a Jar is designed for kids aged 12+. During this age range, most kids have heard about sex and think they know it all. If you haven’t had any sex talks and you have an almost 12 year-old, now is the time to go to them and do this activity. They will push back and say they don’t want to, but use the strategies provided to initiate Teen Topics in a Jar. It’s so important that they have accurate information now, because they will be making sexual health decisions in the near future.
Top Talks is a practical guide that shows you how to easily layer the sex talks using the Topics in a Jar activities. Top Talks teaches you the intention behind each talk and how the layered approach is designed to build your child’s self-confidence to make healthy decisions for their body and sexual health now and in the future.
I use Top Talks with my own kids and I’m currently updating the lessons for 2026. I’ve noticed what information is sticking and what could be improved. I’m making the tweaks inside the guide for you based on my personal experience and your feedback. Top Talks will never be finished per se - just like parenting it’s an ongoing process that just keeps getting better.
If you purchased each lesson as an individual mini-Masterclass, all the Topics in a Jar Activities, and each of the digital download guides it would cost well over $575.
Don’t wait until your kid asks you a sex question - start getting prepared today and be ready to answer their question!

📚🥳 I’m Writing a Book with DK Publishing!
I recently announced that I’m writing a book for parents on how to have the early sex talks! It’s currently in development and scheduled for publication in 2027. So if you just found out you’re pregnant or have a 2 year-old - this book will be ready for you just in time for your lil one to ask, “Where do babies come from?”

Screen Grab from the official announcement on Publisher’s Marketplace
I’m writing this book because I consistently had parents tell me, “I didn’t think my kid would ask this question so soon!” Having been a sex ed teacher since the late 2000s; this surprised sentiment from parents hasn’t changed in almost 20 years.
It’s been my mission on social media to give parents a heads up! I want all parents to know - that your 4 year-old is probably going to ask you, “Where do babies come from?” and your 8 year-old is probably going to ask you, “What’s sex?” Every parent can answer these questions in a medically-accurate and age-appropriate way - you’ve just gotta get prepared!
The tentative title of my book is, Where do Babies Come From?: Age-Appropriate Answers to Young Kids’ Questions about Bodies, Gender, and Sex. It’s aimed at parents of kids under 7 years-old and designed to build your confidence to easily answer the common sex questions kids ask in the Primary Age. I’m writing this book for every parent who has ever muttered the phrase, “I didn’t expect the sex talk to happen this early!”
Thank you for being here and I will be sharing my writing process in these newsletters and on my IG stories.
Is it necessary to tell a 5 year-old what porn is for their safety?
